This Devastated Fan – Plot and Debauchery Wrought with passion, intensity and emotion, Plot and Debauchery, the third album from This Devastated Fan, is an accomplished piece of work.
Back in March, The LINC were lucky enough to find ourselves invited to an intimate show by the band, where the new album was performed in its entirety, albeit in a stripped-back, bare-bones style.
Back then, we were suitably impressed with the ‘well-crafted, expertly delivered’ songs which make up TDF’s first new release since 2008’s This is for the Actors, and now that we have the finished product in our hands, we’re even more enthralled.
Blasting out of the stereo in all its full blown glory, Plot and Debauchery delivers everything you could hope for from a modern rock band.
Right from the eerie opening of Shoulder the War to the haunting, sombre tones of closing track Heathen Rage, by way of the sharp guitars and soft melody of Contingency Plan, the big, boisterous riff of Bambi Wood, the chilling lead guitar of Murder and all that falls in between, this is an exhilarating ride from start to finish.
With a dark, brooding rhythm section lurking beneath glistening guitars and intelligent, poetical lyrics, this is not only an album where beauty and tragedy stand tall together, where creativity triumphs and intensity and passion reign; this is an accomplished piece of work that TDF should be incredibly proud of.
