The Mayor attends health event
Having your say about health
A huge event at Haigh Hall this past November kicked off a series of new opportunities for you to have your say on health services across Wigan Borough.
The event was organised by The Children and Young People’s Health Improvement Commissioning team, who help young people use their views and opinions to influence how health services are run in the borough.
The team work across a range of health issues including:
- Healthy weight
- Breastfeeding
- Teenage pregnancy
- Sexual health
- Substance misuse (including drugs, alcohol and tobacco)
The event at Haigh was the start of a big consultation process that lets you have your views about these services. Loads of young people aged 12-19 took part in the event and even Wigan’s Mayor, Councillor Mike Winstanley turned up.
You’ll be able to read a report from the day on what you told the team and how that’s going to influence local health services from this very website from April 4th.
If you haven’t already, why not check out an exclusive photo gallery from the event on
The LINC’s Facebook page.
There’ll be more opportunities for you to get involved and have your say, as the team are going to be running lots of smaller events across the borough in community venues that you go to.
If you want one of these events to take place in your youth group, just contact Eleanor at
e.mansell@wigan.gov.ukThis whole process will carry on in the future thanks to a group called the Young Health Advocates, who’ll make sure that the opportunity to have your say and influence decisions carries on.
Look out for regular updates on RUREADY2.com about more chances to have your say, what you’ve told the team so far and what’s been done about it, and how to be part of the Health Advocate Group.
