Finding Emo help Locally Sourced talent
Fresh from storming the stage at this year’s Haigh Fest, Wigan band Finding Emo are on a mission to keep the local music scene thriving by launching their own live music nights.
Launching this coming Friday August 19th and taking place once a quarter at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall in Highfield, Wigan, the ‘Locally Sourced’ nights take their name from the band’s desire to help promote the music scene in Wigan Borough.
24 year-old Finding Emo front man Scott Parry said:
“We're putting on the Locally Sourced shows to provide another opportunity to showcase the wealth of talent in the local music scene for local music fans to see that talent on display.
“We love our town and want to celebrate the good things that are happening here. It's way too easy to get negative about Wigan & Leigh, but there's a lot of good stuff going on too and we should catch onto that.”
The August 19th launch night sees the band, completed by guitarist Jonny Taylor and drummer Tom West, taking to the stage alongside fellow Haigh Fest stars The Lottery Winners and Wigan alt-rockers Wishpig, and Scott is urging local music fans to show their support.
“It’'s a Friday night, so it's the perfect start to your weekend. It's a safe, fun environment and all ages are welcome, with a wristband in system in place to ensure no underage drinking. It's your local scene, so we'd appreciate your support”
As well as fans, the Finding Emo boys are hoping other bands from across the borough will be keen to get involved, not only supporting those performing next Friday, but also coming forward to play at future Locally Sourced events.
“We're just trying to do our bit for the local scene, so it would be great if all the local bands could turn up on the night, show some support and definitely talk to us if you’re interested in playing future Locally Sourced nights.
“We're not promoters! We're just a band looking to do a band night so we see the gig from a band’s perspective. We know you want a splendid venue, good receptive crowd and great sound.”
