The LINC is a service for young people in Wigan Borough. Our main aim is to provide information on things to do and places to go as well as signposting to useful services and organisations who can help young people with a wide range of issues from drug and alcohol abuse to careers via sexual health, housing and much more.
We do this in a number of ways including
• Printed materials (posters, flyers, postcards etc)
• Through The LINC Online website
• Through social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Youtube.
• Through the local press
Our other priority is celebrating the achievements of the borough’s young people and doing our part to help combat the negative stereotypes of young people.
This includes those involved in youth groups, sports clubs, the local music and arts scenes and any young person with a positive story to tell.
To this end, our Young People’s Press Officer works closely with the local media not only to promote positive activities, but also to share those positive stories of young people’s achievements.
In the past, we’ve published The LINC magazine, a full-colour publication distributed to around 30,000 young people in Wigan Borough and featuring news, reviews, things to do, competitions and more.
