It’s one of the highlights of Wigan’s
cultural calendar…
A chance for people from all over the borough to get together and talk
about what how to improve lives…
A chance to celebrate the exciting and diverse range of cultural
activities our borough enjoys and the talented groups and individuals
who bring colour and character to all our lives…
Yes, the annual Cultural Partnership Convention is just weeks away and
it promises something for everyone.
Organised by Wigan’s Cultural Partnership, the convention will take
place at the newly opened Leigh Indoor Sports Centre within the flagship
Leigh Sports Village on Saturday May 10.
The convention will give invited guests from all over the borough and
beyond the chance to hear about all the good work going on at present
and about what is planned for the future.
It will also update the audience on the progress towards achieving the
goals set out in the borough’s Cultural Manifesto, which was launched at
last year’s convention.
The key note speaker for the event will be acclaimed poet Tony Walsh who
will inspire and encourage the audience to think about new ways to help
improve people’s lives through cultural activities.
Rodney Hill, chief executive of Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, says:
“The convention is something that everyone can get involved in and
everyone who attends will have a great chance to see what’s already
going on as well as having their own say on what should happen in the
future.”
“We would like people from all over the borough and from all social and
cultural backgrounds to get involved and help shape the borough’s
cultural future.”
The convention is a free event and will take place between 9am and 1pm
at Leigh Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday May 10.
Numbers are limited and anyone who would like to attend must reserve a
place in advance. For more information and to book a place contact John
Hill at Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust on 01942 486926 by Wednesday
April 30.
