The finest dancers from across Wigan and Leigh are set to leap, swing
and twirl into action this spring as part of Wigan Borough’s biggest
dance festival, Dance Fusion.
The festival, now in its third year, is organised by Wigan Leisure and
Culture Trust in partnership with the Wigan and Leigh Dance Network. The
last two years were completely sold out so dance fans are urged to
purchase their tickets soon.
The festival will take place on Saturday 26th April at Lowton Civic
Hall. Two different exciting performances showcasing the areas best
talent will take place starting with a matinee performance at 3.30 pm
and an evening performance at 7.00 pm.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Arts Development Officer Vicky Fletcher
said: “The dance scene in the borough is thriving. Some of the talent
here is as good as anywhere in the country and we have one of the most
active networks of dancers in the North West.
“The Wigan and Leigh Dance Network is crucial to the success of the
festival. Their enthusiasm and expertise has helped to develop and
improve the festival each year and we are very thankful for their input.
They help to ensure that Dance Fusion is a superb event and everyone who
comes along is guaranteed a great time. The showcase features a range of
dance styles and lots of action that we hope will inspire newcomers to
the glorious world of dance.”
The 2008 Dance Fusion line up includes: Abraham Guest High School; Step
by Step Dance; Zenith School of Dance; Lowton Youth Dance; Wigan and
Leigh Youth Dance Company; Winstanley College; Dynamite Dancers;
Africano Sound; Seven Stars Sword and Step Dancers; Fred Longworth High
