Final Countdown for Leigh’s Sport Relief Mile

The countdown to the Leigh Sports Village Sport Relief Mile has begun with only ten days to go before Leigh residents go the distance for Sport Relief on Sunday 16th March.

Places for the Leigh run organised by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust are filling up fast. Local runners and walkers should to sign up now to guarantee a place for them and their family at www.sportrelief.com

Around 350 Milers will be pulling on their Sport Relief socks to take part in the Leigh run which has been kindly supported by Leigh Harriers and Sainsbury’s in Leigh. Milers can choose to do 1, 3 or 6 miles, so can select the distance that is a challenge for them and make sure they get sponsored while they do it.

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Community Activity Officer Emma Moran said: “As the countdown to the big day begins we’re looking forward to seeing hundreds of local residents going the distance and getting sponsored for Sport Relief. We are urging people to book their place as soon as possible because the event is nearly booked up already.

“We have had a fantastic response from the people of Leigh already and would like to thank Leigh Harriers and Sainsbury’s for all their support. The last time we organised a Sport Relief Mile it was at Robin Park Arena in Wigan and we got a fantastic response – we hope this year will be even better.”
