A New Year Health Kick at Wigan and Leigh
Libraries
Residents in Wigan and Leigh will be given
the opportunity to get a head start with their New Year’s resolutions as
Wigan and Leigh’s libraries host a Health Week.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s libraries team has organised a variety
of healthy activities taking place from Monday 7th to Saturday 12th
January. The activities will give people a helping hand in their New
Year quest to eat healthily, become more physically and mentally active
and to have plenty of fun.
Leigh Library will be offering something for everyone, from toddler
aerobics to osteoporosis screenings. For the more adventurous, there are
Tai Chi tasters and DJ and MC sessions.
For those in the west of the Borough, Wigan Library has dancing, a Fit 4
Fun Academy session for young people, a Play Station competition, and
even blood pressure and diabetes checks. Most sessions are free of
charge but booking is recommended for some activities.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Access and Inclusion Officer Anne Turner
said: “The week is packed with activities and advice sessions for all
age groups and abilities. We want people to come along, enjoy themselves
and maybe it will help them to kick start a healthier lifestyle.
Libraries can provide people with information about everything and
anything and we like to see them as active places full of positive
energy and activities.”
Throughout the week, in both Wigan and Leigh libraries, there will be
information stands with advisors on hand from Nugent Care and the
Trust’s Active Living, Sports Development and Active Life teams to
answer any queries on healthy living.
For more information about these events please contact Wigan Library on
01942 827621 or Leigh Library on 01942 404404 or via the website
