Around 2,500 people united to witness the sky above Wigan lit up by a
spectacular fireworks display at Haigh Hall and Country Park on Sunday
evening.
The sell out event was enjoyed by families from across Wigan Borough and
beyond who enjoyed a perfect autumnal celebration that also included a
huge bonfire, a fun fair and traditional food.
Wigan Warriors star Mike Higham was on hand to start the fireworks and
the event was energetically supported by Rock FM, with DJs warming up
the crowd at Wigan’s most historic hall from 3pm into the early evening.
Proceeds from the Haigh event will be donated to local breast cancer
charities as part of the Mayor of Wigan’s chosen campaign for 2007.
Haigh Hall and Country Park Manager Tim Sharratt said: “I would like to
thank all of the staff and volunteers who gave up their time to host
this event and raise funds for such a valuable cause. We are delighted
with the way the event went and hope that everyone who came along
enjoyed themselves as much as we did. The fireworks display by was truly
breathtaking. Tonight proved that Haigh is the perfect venue for this
type of family event.”
