Spikey Returns for Monaco Nights

Funny man Dave Spikey, famed for his stand-up performances and his roles in some of TV’s best-loved comedies is returning to the Monaco Ballroom, Hindley this spring.

The double British Comedy Award Winner, co-writer and star of Phoenix Nights is back on the road with a long awaited new live show, ‘The Best Medicine’. Spikey will play a double header of shows at the 600 seat Monaco Ballroom on Wednesday 12th and Sunday 30th March 2008.

Dave’s previous performances at the Monaco sold out in record time. Comedy fans are urged to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Dave said: “It’s been a while since I’ve been on the road but I wanted to play here because I always get a great reception. The Monaco still retains a classic ballroom feel and when over 600 people are packed in here is a sight to behold. The atmosphere is always electric and I always feel at home on the Monaco stage.”

According to Dave’s publicity material ‘The Best Medicine’ title comes from the belief that, “laughter boosts the immune system, reduces stress and blood pressure, and even burns calories!”

Since he last toured, the award-winning comedian appeared alongside Jimmy Carr in Channel 4’s ‘8 out of 10 Cats’, and hosted ‘Bullseye’. Spikey also won ‘Celebrity Mastermind’ and was a judge on BBC1’s talent show ‘When Will I Be Famous?’ He also found the time to write and co-star with Johnny Vegas in ITV’s critically acclaimed sit-com ‘Dead Man Weds’, and write and co-star in BBC1’s comedy drama ‘Magnolia’.

Leisure Venues Deputy Manager Chris Gore said: “The Monaco is the perfect venue for comedy and Dave Spikey’s show always goes down superbly. We are looking forward to welcoming Dave back; he is one of the top comedy performers around. Tickets will sell out quickly so I would urge Spikey fans to get theirs as early as possible.”

Dave Spikey will play a double header of shows at the Monaco Ballroom, Hindley, near Wigan on Wednesday 12th and Sunday 30th March 2008. Tickets are priced at £17.50 and £16 (concessions). Contact the Box Office on 01942 825677 to purchase tickets.
