Taking the Easy Line to Good Health – Another First for Wigan Borough

Photo Opportunity: The Mayor of Wigan will join Hindley Juniors F.C. to launch Easy Line at Howe Bridge Sports Centre, near Leigh, at 11.15am on Friday 18th August. Contact Chris Dunbar: 01942 486937.

Residents in Wigan Borough will be amongst the first in the country to try out a new circuit training system set to revolutionise the way in which gym users across the UK work-out. Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT) are introducing the new state of the art Easy Line training circuit to Howe Bridge Sports Centre and Robin Park Sports Centre from September.

Easy Line, designed by market leaders Technogym, is a 16-piece set of circuit training equipment especially designed for people who want to get fit, improve their health or lose weight, but who find traditional gyms intimidating.

The equipment is billed as ‘circuit training with style’ and uses hydraulic resistance piston technology that provides extra support whilst exercising. This makes the equipment ideal for people of all ages as it helps the user to hold the limbs in place and maintain the correct position, so that there is no pressure on the joints and reduced risk of strain and injury.

WLCT is one of the first in the country to introduce the Easy Line system to its gyms. Martin Eden, WLCT’s Executive Director for Sport and Healthy Living, says, “We are introducing this equipment because we believe it will open the door to many people who normally wouldn’t enjoy working out in a traditional gym environment. It is a further commitment to provide excellent equipment to our Profiles gyms and creates another opportunity for people across the Borough to become more physically active in a comfortable environment.”

Andy Burnham, Health Minister and MP for Leigh, says, “I am delighted that people in Leigh and Wigan will be amongst the first in the country to use this equipment. It is excellent to see that people who don’t enjoy traditional gyms will have the opportunity to improve their health at a pace they can enjoy.”

The Easy Line system is ideal for quick work outs and is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to professional sports people and residents who have less spare time on their hands. WLCT have specially trained staff who will be running 45 minute sessions from Monday 4th September onwards at Howe Bridge and Robin Park Sports Centres.

Easy Line is designed for people aged fourteen plus, for further information please contact Howe Bridge Sports Centre on 01942 870403 or Robin Park Sports Centre on 01942 828550 or see www.wlct.org.
