Haigh Hall and Country Park is bringing fiction to life this summer with
a full programme of open-air children’s theatre from the Storytellers
Theatre Company.
Paying tribute to family classics including ‘Pinocchio,’ ‘The Emperors
New Clothes’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’, the story
teller events provide something for everyone, young and old.
Set in the picturesque walled gardens of Haigh Country Park,
performances are held twice daily, with open-air tickets available for
all the family. Highly trained and experienced actors bring the
performances to life using costumes, scenery, props, song and a sense of
fun.
Jill Smith, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Events Officer at Haigh,
says, “The Storytellers Theatre really bring the magic of these
children’s stories to life. It is something that all of the family can
enjoy and it’s wonderful to see the children’s faces as they see their
favourite stories acted out in the open air. These events have proved to
be extremely popular over the past few years and we are delighted to be
hosting this literary treat once again.”
Dates for the performances are as follows:
• Thursday 20th July - 'Alice in Wonderland'
• Thursday 27th July- 'Pinocchio'
• Thursday 3rd August- 'The Emperors New Clothes'
• Thursday 10th August- ‘Hansel and Gretel'
Performance times are 12 noon and 2pm for each production. Prices are £5
for Adults and £4 for children and concessions. Booking is advisable to
