Pre-Christmas Fun to Get Console Kids in Libraries
Photo Opportunities: Photographers are
invited to attend the PS2 competitions at the Wiend Children’s Centre at
3pm on Saturday 18th November and at Atherton Library at 4pm on
Wednesday 22nd November. Contact Chris Dunbar on 01942 486937.
Young console geniuses will be packing into Wigan Borough’s libraries
across Wigan Borough in a bid to be crowned the Play Station 2 (PS2)
king or queen of their local library.
In a bid to get more children enjoying the variety of services available
in their local library,
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s team will be running PS2 competitions
at fifteen libraries over the next few weeks.
Andrew Pickup, Manager of the Wiend Children’s Centre, said, “These
competitions are very popular and are a great way to encourage children
who do not normally use their local library to explore what's on offer.
Libraries are much more inviting than they used to be and these
competitions are always played in a great spirit. We provide a much
wider variety of services than ever, books will always be at the core of
our service, but we want to offer young people much more than that.”
The competitions are free to enter for all children aged 5 to 11, with
each winner being awarded a pre-Christmas bonus of a £20 gift voucher.
Those wishing to take part can pre-register, or simply turn up at their
