Roof Work Means Temporary Closure for
Tyldesley Library
Essential maintenance work to Tyldesley Library will mean the temporary
closure of the facility for one week from Monday 30th October.
Work will be carried out to repair the library’s roof and make general
improvements to the children’s section of the library. The work is
estimated to take between five and seven weeks, however the library will
only close for one week and is planned to re-open on Monday 6th
November.
Joyce Peat, Community Libraries Officer, said, “Although this closure
will disrupt the library service in the short-term it will be hugely
beneficial to our customers. Tyldesley Library is housed in a Victorian
building and as such we need to keep on top of the maintenance to ensure
the best quality of service is provided to our customers.”
Customers with books due back during the closure period will have their
fines waived. However, books can be returned to any library or mobile
library or can be renewed online at
www.wlct.org/libraries.
Services at nearby Atherton Library and Leigh Library will remain in
operation during the closure period at Tyldesley. For further
information please contact Tyldesley Library on 01942 404817.
