Atherton Cleaning Up!

On Saturday 17th September, Atherton Churches Together, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust and Wigan Council will be working together to clean up the local environment and have a little fun in the process.

Following opening prayers at the Baptist Church at 10:30am, a litter pick will take place at 11am in Central Park, Atherton at the Leigh Rd / Bee Fold Lane entrance. There will also be activities including a treasure hunt, archery and a face painter.

Parks Community Liaison Officer for the Trust, Mike Berry says, "This kind of event is certainly a first for me but it's a great opportunity for all the community to improve their environment while making new friends ".

For those who do not like the great outdoors there will be arts and crafts at the Independent Methodists on Mealhouse Lane. People can also drop in for a coffee and a free book in St Anne's Hall at the rear of Atherton Parish Church.
