Hagfold to Host Festival Finale
On Saturday 10th September, the community of Hag Fold, Atherton will host
the final festival of Wigan Borough’s busy summer schedule.
Hag Fold Community Festival, starts at 5.30pm and includes free live
performances, parades, stalls and a magical firework display. The festival
celebrates and showcases the work of community groups from Hag Fold
alongside professional musical and comedy entertainment.
Dorset Road Field will come alive with a festival parade involving local
groups and schools dressed in fabulous costumes and banners based on the
theme of ‘celebration’. The festival will continue with live performances
including The Black Eagles who will thrill the audience with their
astounding acrobatics and balancing acts performed to a pulsating musical
soundtrack and the unique Dr. Southall’s Medicine Show who will amaze with
his wire walk over Niagara Falls!
The fun-packed evening promises plenty of banter and audience
participation from the Bread & Butter Theatre Company and Big Rory. Cherie
and Suzette from Swank: Make Up will even be offering fabulous crazy
makeovers to any brave individual direct from their pink mobile make-up
trolley. Children will be amused and entertained with balloon modelling
and tricks from the one and only Kevin the Klown. The festival will also
feature face painting, a fairground, games and workshops.
“This year’s festival celebrates and encapsulates the community spirit at
Hag Fold,” says John Hill, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Community
Development Support Officer. “The aim of the festival is to provide people
in the community with a sense of common identity, purpose and togetherness
whilst showcasing the impressive and talented work of the community groups

time to make this event happen and it promises to be a really fun evening
for all ages.”
