Wigan Pier Goes Wild!

Wigan Pier is due to launches the highlight event of its action-packed summer programme with the animal-themed activity ‘Animal Antics’.  This mesmerising children’s event will take place every Thursday throughout the summer from 21st July until 18th August.

Animal Antics takes place on the Kittywake besides The Way We Were and promises to be jam-packed with fun things to make and do including arts and crafts, quizzes, a canal walk, competitions and the ever-popular animal band.  Throughout the year, Wigan Pier hosts a full programme of family-friendly events run by the award-winning educational team.

Sue Maiden, Learning Officer at Wigan Pier commented: “Wigan Pier places learning at the heart of all of its activities including the work that we do within the museum and our events programme.  It’s great that kids of all ages enjoy getting involved in the activities, combining fun and learning.  We hosted a similar event last year and it was a roaring success – no pun intended!”

Animal Antics takes place on Thursday 21st and 28th July and the 4th, 11th, 16th and 18th August. Times: 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Charges apply.

Other must see attractions for the summer include the recently restored ‘Trencherfield Mill Engine’- the world’s largest working mill steam engine, The Way We Were Heritage Centre providing an authentic recreation of Victorian life from schooldays through to work and play, and the Wigan Pier waterbus.
