Summer Tubs Fun For Budding Gardeners Have you got the green-fingered bug that is sweeping the
nation? If so, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s (WLCT) Park Rangers will be
happy to teach you how to produce sprightly Summer Tubs to a standard usually
reserved for professional gardeners. This Sunday (June 5th) at Jubilee Park, Ashton and the following Saturday (June 11th) at Mesnes Park, Wigan you are invited to attend a free quick-fire course that will demonstrate how to create colourful floral displays to be proud of. Each course runs from 1pm to 3pm and people are invited to bring their own containers and plants or have the option of buying them from the rangers. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment, members of the public can book a place by calling either 01942 245369 or 01942 828828. Sharon Saunders, WLCT’s Parks Community Liaison Officer, is confident that anyone attending ‘Summer Tubs’ will have fun and feel invigorated from their afternoon of green-fingered fun. “We run the Summer Tubs sessions so people can learn new gardening skills, have some fun and eventually go back to their own gardens and make them as colourful and beautiful as possible,” says Sharon. “Gardening really is a growing craze at the moment and people love having the opportunity to get their hands dirty and feel the satisfaction of seeing their own hard work in full bloom.” “Summer Tubs is a fun way of encouraging activity and learning in the community and is a great example of WLCT’s vision for Getting Wigan Active. The Trust is committed to ensuring people of all ages and abilities are given the opportunity to get active and be mentally stimulated. Where better to do that than in the summer sun?” continues Sharon. Remember, book early and do not miss the opportunity to make Alan Titchmarsh and company green with envy! -ends- NOTES TO EDITORS: For more information on this News Release please contact Chris Dunbar, PR Consultant, WLCT on 01942 776719 or at c.dunbar@wlct.org |
