Nigel Mansell returns to Three Sisters! |
The Mansell name is making a welcome return to motorsport in 2006 in the
form of Leo and Greg Mansell, the sons of former Formula 1 World
Champion, Nigel Mansell. Leo and Greg, accompanied by Nigel, were at Three Sisters Race Circuit on Wednesday to complete the necessary course to obtain their MSA race licences in preparation for a dual assault on the 2006 Formula BMW UK Championship. Nigel, who once raced gearbox karts at Three Sisters, was on hand to provide advice, ‘Its been a while since I last visited Three Sisters, its great to come back and see how the place has developed without loosing its natural charm.’ ‘Whilst it’s a challenging and tricky circuit, it’s got a variety of different corners and gradients which provides the ideal safe environment in which to train young drivers.’ Advised Nigel. ‘It is very exciting, we are very fortunate to be having the experience of doing Formula BMW next year.’ Continued Leo. ‘We started karting six months ago and we've loved every minute of it. So we are very excited about the future.’ Greg continued the sibling rivalry, ‘Formula BMW is a brilliant starting ground. It is all very equal. All the cars are identical, engines are identical and it's a fair playing field. The cars are great fun to drive for the drivers. So it is a great series for us to get into.’ The team at Three Sisters wished Leo and Greg all the very best in their 2006 campaign. Three Sisters Racing Circuit is owned by Wigan Council with the lease being managed by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust. -ends- ► www.racing-school.co.uk Contacts: Peter Barnes on 01942-270230 or Chris Dunbar, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s PR Officer on 01942 486937. |
