New Look for Atherton Library |
Atherton Library is to undergo a refreshing pre-Christmas refurbishment
that will give the library a more vibrant feel, making it more inviting
for current users, young and old. The internal refurbishment includes the introduction of the new Explore brand that is currently being established across all of Wigan Borough’s libraries. Explore which was introduced by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust this year, creates a more welcoming and user-friendly setting in which customers can enjoy their library and its services. The library will also be re-painted and have brand new internal signage installed to further enhance the internal layout of the building. To enable this work to be carried out the library will be closed for a short period. The library will be closed for a week from Monday 5th December and will re-open on Monday 12th December. Regular users can rest assured that they will not be charged any fines during this period. “This is a very exciting time for the library service as a whole and I’m sure the people of Atherton will feel the long-term benefits of having a more pleasant and inviting environment for their local library,” says Sue Colville, the Trust’s Libraries Co-ordinator. “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by having the library closed for this period. However we feel our loyal customers will appreciate the new look of the library and will enjoy using our services even more in the future.” Any customers who have worries or concerns about the service over the shut-down period please can contact Marlene Chadwick or Joyce Peat on 01942 404817 or 01942 404738. Normal service will also continue at nearby Tyldesley Library. -ends- NOTES TO EDITORS: For further information on this News Release please contact Chris Dunbar, Public Relations Officer, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust on 01942 486937 or at c.dunbar@wlct.org.
