U2 Go Vertigo at the Monaco Ballroom

Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton are coming to town!

Well not quite, but the Monaco Ballroom, Hindley has been chosen as one of the few northern venues that the UK’s foremost U2 tribute acts will be appearing at this year!

U2UK, formed in 2002, are bringing their live show to the recently refurbished venue on Friday November 18th. The band who have recently returned from playing in some exotic venues across Europe, including Cyprus and Amsterdam, will be lighting up the stage with their own rendition of U2’s Vertigo tour.

“We work hard to mirror the spectacular show that U2 put on around the world. We are not just a tribute act in the sense that we just bang out all the old hits, we put on a phenomenal light show that reflects the current tour, in this case Vertigo,” beams Simon aka The Edge. “Of course we’ll still be playing all the crowd favourites but we study U2’s unique live performances so we can give the audience a really memorable night.”

With U2’s live Vertigo DVD soon to be released, the Monaco show is sure to prove a big hit with U2 fans who are being given a chance to experience the tour for real in the intimate atmosphere of the ballroom. U2UK’s quality is indisputable with lead singer Paul Collyer once appearing on ITV’s ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ in the guise of his alter ego Bono.

Brain Yates, Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Leisure Venues Manager, says, “We’re really excited that U2UK are coming to the Monaco. I’ve heard nothing but great reports about them and if their own live albums are anything to go by then I am sure everyone who comes along will have a great time. We’re putting on a series of high quality tribute artists and it is fantastic that some of the country’s best are choosing to play here.”

U2UK will be performing at the Monaco Ballroom on Friday 18th November at 8.30pm. Tickets are priced at £11 and are available now from the Box Office on 01942 825677, or pay at the door. For more information about the band please see www.u2ukshow.com
