Badminton Bonanza - International Clash Comes to Robin Park Olympic heroes are heading for Wigan.The country's top players from the exciting, fast-paced sport of badminton will be at Robin Park Sports Centre later this month to take part in a major battle for national pride. The English team will be pitted against their counterparts from Germany in what promises to be a hotly contested encounter and a treat for spectators. The two sides will be touring the country during five days of top class action.The English contingent from Team GB's Athens squad will be taking part in the tour, including mixed doubles silver medallists Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms. The Carlton Hi-Tec England V Germany Tour has been organised by the Badminton Association of England (BaofE) and is already proving to be a winner for fans of the game. Spectator tickets at the first two venues (Portsmouth and Hatfield) have virtually sold out already. Robin Park Sports Centre Manager Mike Woodruff is expecting a tournament to remember. Mike said: "This will be a chance for the English squad to shine in front of a home crowd and for the German team it will be a chance for them to avenge some of their Athens defeats. "It's got all the ingredients for a sensational showdown and should be a memorable event for not just badminton lovers but all sports fans who love to cheer for England."
