All Flowered Up For Winter

Nature experts with Wigan's Leisure and Culture Trust are urging flower fans in the borough to make winter a colourful occasion and get planting!
In fact the green-fingered park rangers are ready to show you how you can 'glam up your garden' this winter with a tub of colour.
The winter tubs are like the cold weather equivalent of the hanging basket and are the ideal addition to any garden that needs brightening up all year round.
Each year the rangers put on demonstrations of how to arrange a winter tub, what flowers to use and how to care for them.
Wigan's Mesnes Park will be the venue for the latest master class between 11am and 3pm on Sunday September 21.
The demonstration is free, you can bring your own equipment but plants and tubs will be available for a small fee.
Parks Community Liaison Officer Sharon Saunders said: "These demonstrations have to be among the most popular things we do. Every year they are oversubscribed because places are limited so I would urge anyone who is interested to give us a call to book a place."

  • People attending Sunday's event are advised to meet the rangers by the Mesnes Park Café.
  • To book a place or for more information contact 01942 245369.
