The summer holidays are almost upon us and for school pupils across
Wigan Borough weeks of freedom can often lead to a big battle against
boredom. But this year there is an alternative because while 'school's
out' - 'sports in' thanks to a great new deal from Wigan Leisure and
Culture Trust's Active Life Services.
The Silver Six is a brand new pass that allows young fitness fans from
across the borough to unlimited access to the top-notch Profiles health
and fitness suite at their local leisure centre for the six weeks of the
summer holidays.
Profiles provides fitness facilities to rival any at four of the
Trust-run leisure centres - Ashton Leisure Centre on Old Road, Howe
Bridge Sports Centre on Eckersley Fold Lane, Robin Park Arena, Loire
Drive, Wigan and Wigan International Pool.
For the £20 cost of the Silver Six pass, young people aged from 14 to
16, can use any or all of the Profiles centres for as long as they like.
Mike Grundy, manager of Robin Park Arena, said: "It's a great deal. For
just £20 children can beat the boredom at an Active Life Centre.
"The scheme is about giving young people something to do, helping them
to improve their fitness and having fun at the same time! With a deal
like this there really is no need for the kids to wander the streets
over the summer."
Young people can apply for their Silver Six at any of the Active Life
Centres.
And to make a great deal even better, the Active Life Team are offering
all young people the chance to make even more of the summer by winning a
top of the range mountain bike.
Mike said: "Everyone who applies for a Silver Six will have their name
automatically entered into a free draw for the mountain bike."
She added: "But whether you win the bike or not everyone's a winner with
the Silver Six so get down to your nearest Active Life Centre and find
out more!"
