Teenagers
Every one of our libraries has a dedicated teen space offering books and audio visual material that’ll make your world spin. Whether your interest lies in Playstation gaming, graphic novels, surfing the internet or the latest cutting-edge fiction, you can be sure your local ‘explore’ library is ready to entertain you!
So libraries aren’t just about books then?If you’ve not visited a library for a while, you may be surprised to know that books are only a part of our world (but more of that later!). Libraries throughout our borough offer everything from magazines to DVDs, and from PCs to Playstations. Here’s a quick run down of all the services our libraries offer:
BooksSurf our shelves real-time, and you’ll find chillers and thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy, humour and horror, graphic novels and everything in between. Perhaps you’re looking for the book of the latest blockbuster film or your favourite author’s latest book? If you have internet access at home, and you’re a library member, you can also search for books on-line.
Magazines
All our libraries offer a selection of magazines and newspapers. We subscribe to an array of popular magazines, covering
everything from sports to hobbies.
PCs & Playstations
All our libraries have free computer access, enabling you to surf the internet, email friends, or perfect your coursework.
Music & Film
You’ll find a selection of CDs and DVDs in your local library, that are available for hire. So, if you’re hung up on Madonna or you share the Arctic Monkeys’ favourite worst nightmare, you can hire CDs for two weeks for just £1.00! For times when you need an audio-visual ‘pick-me-up’, you can hire DVDs for £2.00 a week.
Accessing Information
As well as plenty of PCs (and free internet access!), we have collections of reference and project books with facts that’ll blow your mind. You can access on-line resources to help you find the very latest facts, and if you’re a library member and have internet access at home, you can access our on-line resources from your own PC (you’ll need to speak to a librarian to set this up). Find out more about accessing our on-line resources.
If you can’t find the information you’re seeking, whether it’s for coursework or just to satisfy your curiosity, a member of staff will be happy to help you.
