Wigan Pier Theatre Company

Creative Leigh

‘CreativeLEIGH’ is a promenade performance where the audience will be guided through eight dramatic scenes in different venues around Leigh Sports Village – including the Park Inn Hotel, Wigan & Leigh College, Leigh Sports Centre, the Harriers building and the LSV Stadium.

You will meet the famous, bizarre and successful characters from yesteryear. Accompanied by new visual artwork from local Primary Schools and art groups, this will be a fun and melodramatic theatrical tour for all who want to experience Leigh’s vibrant heritage and learn about the interesting people that were citizens of the town.

With contributions from Wigan Pier Youth & Community Theatre, the Turnpike Community Theatre, St Joseph’s Players, Wigan & Leigh College and professional actors.

Julie McKiernan’s play “The Streets of Leigh” and the whole event is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is a partnership project between Leigh Sports Trust and Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust.

The promenade guided tour will last approximately two hours and will involve walking between indoor and outdoor venues in small audience groups of around 25 people. Please wear sensible footwear and clothing suitable for Autumn weather to keep you warm and dry. Bring a brolly! Suitable for ages 8 upwards. Wheelchair accessible but please advise us of this.

To book your FREE place, telephone the Tourist Information Centre on 01942 825677. Performances will start from the ‘Legends Bar’ in the LSV Stadium.

Friday 1st October – performances start between 5.30pm and 7.45pm
