Shackerley Community Allotments
Shackerley Community Allotments are a self managed site that is run by a voluntary committee.
The site contains 6 raised beds of varying sizes to suit a variety of abilities and needs. The facilities include sheds, water butts and compost bins.

Should you wish to enquire about renting one of the plots at Shackerley, please contact Frank May on 0800 389 7652.

How much is a plot?

A full plot costs £37.00 per year.
A half plot costs £18.50.

There is a 50% reduction for tenants over 60.

What size are the plots?

The plots come in varying sizes ranging from 100m2 – 300m2.

Is running a allotment hard work?

To keep a plot in a good condition we expect plot holders to spend at least 6 hours working on their plot per week during the growing months and at least 2 hours per week during winter.

How do I apply for an allotment?

Please call the Parks Activities Office on 01942 487099 or by e-mail parks@wlct.org.

New plot holders will be required to sign an agreement setting out the rules for their tenancy of an allotment. Failure to comply with this agreement can lead to the tenancy being terminated. None cultivation is the most common reason for an allotment tenancy being terminated. However do not let this deter you from taking on a plot as there are many benefits such as good exercise and good home grown food to take back at the end of the day.

On a number of our allotment sites we have smaller ‘probation’ plots that are available for inexperienced gardeners on short term leases.
