Discover your HeritageThe purpose of our Teacher Preview sessions is to keep teachers working in our local schools up to date with what Heritage Learning Services are currently offering.We aim to keep our offer for schools relevant, to meet the needs of the changing curriculum and to draw parallels with crucial local objectives and outcomes.

We regard these sessions as a vital two- way process in information sharing to ensure that our education programmes fully meet the agendas of our local schools. This is also an opportunity for us to find out where we can further support work being done in school, and we would welcome discussion with teachers around their views on using heritage in their teaching, learning and curriculum planning.

The Museum is also looking to set up a focus group to explore ideas and opportunities for us to work in partnership with local schools. We need you to come along and get involved!

At teacher preview sessions we will take the opportunity to:

  • Give you a tour of our new exhibition and the Museum building;
  • Talk you through the content of our school workshops;
  • Show you the other activities on offer to complement a Museum visit;
  • Explain about our Outreach Service;
  • Give you an introduction to the Borough Archive and Leigh Local Studies, and how they can support your work in school;
  • Walk you through our booking system and charges.

Teacher preview sessions will be held twice a year on a Thursday evening. We also welcome group visits from staff from the same school. You can use our Discover Room for your staff meeting, have a drink and enjoy having a look around the Museum in your own time. You can arrange to speak with a member of our Learning Team when you book this session with us.
