Grounds Maintenance Services have recently been awarded with the ENCAMS - Tidy Business Gold Standard Award in recognition of its work to improve its waste management practices and for its commitment to improving the visual appearance of the local environment. To achieve the Gold Award Grounds Maintenance Services needed to consider relevant legal waste management issues along with staff training and the introduction of waste recycling and waste minimisation.

In addition to these criteria Grounds Maintenance Services have linked up with local community groups and have undertaken and supported a number of local environmental improvement initiatives.

Environmental Policy
Grounds Maintenance Services recognises the importance of environmental protection and is committed to operating its business responsibly and in compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, legislation and approved codes of practice relating to it’s activities, operations and services. It is the declared policy of Grounds Maintenance Services to carry out all measures reasonably practicable to identify and comply with all relevant environmental regulations, legislation, and requirements relating to its Environmental Aspects. Grounds Maintenance Services will strive to continually improve its environmental performance through the implementation of the following actions:
  • Assessment and regularly re-assessment of the environmental effects of the Organisation’s activities
  • Assessment and regularly re-assessment of the Organisation’s environmental objects and targets
  • Training of all employees and management in environmental issues
  • Minimisation of the production of waste
  • Minimisation energy wastage
  • Promotion of the use of recyclable and renewable materials
  • Reduction or limitation of the production of pollutants to water land and air
  • Control noise emissions from operations
  • Minimisation of the risk to the general public and employees from operations and activities undertaken by the Organisation.
This policy is communicated to all employees, suppliers and sub-contractors and is made available to the public.
