ABOUT US
The Greater Manchester Arts &
Health Co-ordinator with the aim to build a strong communication network
of arts & health practitioners and projects across the ten districts of
Greater Manchester.
This sub-regional project is unique and funded through AGMA (Association
of Greater Manchester Authorities) and the Arts Council with Wigan
Leisure and Culture Trust support until 2008.
The aim of the Greater Manchester Arts & Health Network (GMAHN) is to
promote arts & health best practice, build awareness of local and
Greater Manchester programmes and benefits plus help initiate, support
and sustain GM arts & health work by:
• demonstrating how involvement in the arts can improve health and
well-being
• demonstrating how arts and health programmes can help achieve health
and wellbeing priorities
• presenting examples of Greater Manchester arts and health best
practice
• building strong local partnerships
• demonstrating GM arts & health professionalism and quality outcomes
Arts and Health programmes have already been successful in many key
areas but building awareness and strong partnerships plus establishing
effective approaches and evidence through a strong network, will improve
statutory support.
