The newly refurbished Museum of Wigan Life will have fully accessible toilets and a lift.

Trencherfield Mill Engine
Trencherfield Mill Engine, off Pottery Road, Wigan WN3 4EF

Situated just south of Wigan Town Centre off the A49. Follow brown tourism signage to Wigan Pier and then signage to Trencherfield Mill Engine.

We are currently operating an interim service pending completion of a new development and are making every effort to ensure that we maintain visitor access during this period.

Parking - 6 Accessible parking spaces near the canal arm area at Trencherfield Mill
Lift access to Engine Viewing Gallery, First Floor - Situated in the Ground Floor foyer area (access for one wheelchair)
Hearing Loop System  - Engine House, First Floor
Courtesy wheelchairs  - 3 located in the Machinery Hall, Ground Floor. Please ask a member of staff for assistance
Visitor/Accessible toilets - Situated on the car park near the canal arm area. Please see staff for guidance.
Additional Site Information

Within Trencherfield Mill are the Machinery Hall and Engine House. In the Engine House you will see the world’s largest working horizontal triple expansion Steam Engine in its original location. This area is accessible by stairs with handrails or by lift (3’6 x 4’6, door opening 31”). Entrance – Ground Floor level.
