"Cultural services make a considerable
contribution to the wider aims of both central and local government,
whether tackling social exclusion, encouraging a healthier lifestyle,
providing opportunities for voluntary and community activity, sparking
urban and rural regeneration or stimulating a commitment to lifelong
learning as well as enriching people’s lives."
Culture is what defines a community and
draws people together for their individual and collective creative growth
and development. Culture has both a material and valuable dimension
encompassing a wide range of activities and encouraging involvement and
discovery in both the history and the future of the community.
