February Half Term and Easter Holiday Activities

Looking for something to do this February Half Term and Easter holidays? As part of UK DIY there will be drop-in activities in the gallery suitable for children, young people and families. For children aged 5-12. Children aged 5-7 must be accompanied by an adult. Free, no need to book.

Half term activities

Working with Mixed Media for Adults
Wednesdays 18, 25 February and 4, 11, 18 March, 7.00-9.00pm
An introduction to mixed media techniques, suitable for those with little or no previous experience. Over the course of five weeks participants will work with a range of materials including acrylics, pencil, pastels, charcoal and inks and learn how to combine these elements to best effect. The sessions will be led by our regular tutor Paul Brotherton. Cost: £25.00 for all five sessions, including all materials.

Advanced Calligraphy for Adults
Wednesdays 4, 11, 18, 25 March, 1.00pm-3.00pm
This advanced course will touch on more varied forms of calligraphic scripts. Participants will learn how to enrich and enhance their calligraphy with techniques such as flourishing and illuminated letters. Led by regular tutor Brian Whitmore. Suitable for those who have some previous experience of calligraphy. Cost:£20.00, including all materials.

Pen and Ink Drawing for Adults
Saturday 4 April, 10.00am-1.00pm £5.00
An introduction to drawing with pen and ink led by regular tutor Paul Brotherton. Paul will demonstrate the basic techniques of this method and will look at themes including landscape and still life. Suitable for beginners. Cost: £5.00, including all materials.

Handmade Books for Adults
Saturday 25 April, 10.00am – 3.00pm
Learn how to create a small hand-made book which you will then embellish using various pen techniques, collage, and calligraphic text. Please bring along a short quote or poem to use on the day. Led by regular tutor Brian Whitmore. Suitable for beginners.
Cost: £10.00, including all materials.

Watercolours for Beginners
Wednesdays 29 April and 6, 13, 20, 27 May, 7.00-9.00pm
An introduction to watercolour painting techniques, suitable for adults with little or no previous experience. Over the course of five weeks participants will have the opportunity to develop their painting skills, and look at themes including landscape and still life. The sessions will be led by our regular tutor Paul Brotherton. Cost: £25.00, including all materials.
