Two-thirds of the area is countryside - so there is no shortage of woodlands, country parks, lakes, canals and towpaths. The district is also peppered with the remnants of an industrial age - mills and warehouses of all shapes and sizes. A bustling party atmosphere can be found in the town centre after dark or alternatively transport yourself back to an elegant age in one of our beautiful town halls.
