Get Active, Get Coaching

Wigan Sports Development believes sports coaches are a highly important tool in the development of quality sporting opportunities. As a result we have a number of programmes aimed to provide the coaching workforce of the borough with the opportunities to acquire new skills and develop on existing ones.

Get Coaching bursary
The Get Coaching fund offers local voluntary coaches with the chance to secure 50% funding towards their choice of level 1 or 2 NGB qualification. The fund also offers 100% funding towards minimum operating standard courses such as First Aid, Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Equity in Coaching and Working with Disabled People in Sport.

Coach Education
Wigan Sports Development hosts a range of courses to support and develop the coaching workforce of the borough. A full list of courses as well as information on how to book is available from Wigan Sports Development or via the Wigan Borough Sports Council website.
