Schools' Library Service
Our Services
 There’s a clue in the name of our
service; we are a library service that is dedicated to schools and
teachers in the Wigan borough. We offer a broad range of services to
help you met the demands of the curriculum. Please see the Services sub
menu on the left of the screen for full details.
The Wigan Schools’ Library Service continues to develop, enhancing the
quality of our stock and the services that we offer along the way. We
know that as teachers you have many and varied demands made upon you,
but we’re here to help out when it comes to the printed word.
Our aim is simple: we want to bring learning to life, and you can count
on us to provide a cost-effective service that will support you every
step of the way. The services we offer range from book loans, right
through to advice and training.
We can usually supply materials suitable for most loan requests (and if
we can’t, we’ll phone to let you know). If you’re looking for training
or advice on any book or library related matters, please call us to
discuss your requirements. We’re flexible in our approach, and we
endeavour to help you meet your needs wherever and whenever we are able
to.
You can use the services in exchange for your loan credits. By using
your school's yearly allowance of loan credits, you can access all of
the services that we offer. Should you wish to access additional
services over and above your loan allocation, we can fulfil these
requirements at a nominal change of £26 per additional loan credit.
Please note that unused loan credits are neither refundable nor
transferable, so we urge all schools to make the most of their allocated
loan credits.
