Adult Learners' Week &
Family Learning Week
Adult Learners’ Week
What is ‘Adult Learners’ Week’?
Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest festival and celebration of
adult learning, and happens every May. It provides an opportunity for
adults to try their hand at something new.
Throughout the week, there are a variety of free ‘taster’ sessions
running happening across the borough, so there should be something to
interest everyone!
Family Learning Week
What is ‘Family Learning Week’?
Family Learning Week celebrates how families can support each other’s
learning. This can be as simple as parents and their children working
together to strengthen maths and/or English skills. The idea is that by
different generations of a family working together, the learning process
is made easier and there is more support for each family member in
achieving his or her shared goals.
Family Learning Week takes place every October, but you can learn as a
family at anytime!
What does this mean for me?
You’ll be able to learn new skills – or improve your existing skills –
with the support of staff whilst in the library, and with the support of
a family member whilst at home. This means that the learning process is
made easier, and also more enjoyable.
It’s all about being able to achieve things, and feeling proud of your
shared achievements.
How can my family get involved?
You can use the information on this website to find out what’s happening
in your area, and then, when you’ve found something that interests you,
come along and join in!
Need to know more?

Learning Week, please call into your local library, or email us with any
