It’s been difficult to pick a Single of the
Month this month, and we’ve got to be honest, there hasn’t been that
much that’s taken our fancy.
Alas, we did manage to pick out some gems for you, and so without
further ado, let’s get to it, shall we?
 Editors – Smokers Outside The Hospital Door
What a great tune! Like the sound of Interpol channelling the spirit of
Joy Division through some macabre séance, ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital
Door’ is a dense and darkly delightful track that suddenly makes us care
about a band we’ve been largely indifferent towards until now.
With soaring guitars that crash over dramatic orchestral arrangements
and atmospheric keyboards to create an epic track with oodles of wry
intellect and staggeringly good melody.
There’s an album coming out soon too, and we absolutely can not wait!
The Runners Up
Calvin Harris – The Girls
No matter how much you want to find this storming slice of 80s
disco-clash irritating, it’s nigh on impossible when Mr. Harris creates
such catchy, dancefloor filling gems as this.
Municipal Waste – Headbanger, Face Rip
Over the next few weeks here at The LINC Online, you’ll undoubtedly
notice that we’ve been reviewing an abundance of heavy metal, simply
because lots of it has flooded the LINC office, and most of it has been
awesome. Yet if there’s one track that’s stood out, it’s this fast,
furious and overwhelmingly fun ode to the moshpit from thrash titans
Municipal Waste.
