So, after what’s seemed like the longest delay ever, It’s Single of the
Month time again folks, another chance to look through the charts and
let you know what’s been pumping on our Ipods this month.
There’s been quite a few good releases throughout April, meaning we’ve
been spoilt for choice when it came to picking a winner, but after much
debate, it was finally agreed that that the April Single of the Month
is:
Madonna
featuring Justin Timberlake – 4 Minutes
Knowing that they are both ultimate superstars with mega egos to contend
with, when we heard Madonna and Justin Timberlake were teaming up to
record a single, we immediately assumed it wouldn’t work; two pop
heavyweights clashing to create something that would probably see both
fighting over who got the most mic’ time and who’s influences would win
out over all.
So with this thought in mind, a congratulations is in order to the
wonderful Madge and JT for collaborating on this fantastic single.
With saving the world in mind, the melody is very vibrant and reminds
you of a superhero theme tune.
The space age effects dotted here and there in the song may seem quite
out of date but surprisingly they make the song. Add a bit of percussion
behind the main tune and you’re just waiting for a number one hit to be
announced.
Timbaland features at the end of the song just to round it off but this
only reminds us that we should expect good things from this song as he
has had many successful hits.
‘4 minutes’ gets the thumbs up from all of The LINC Team.
The Runners Up
By LINC Staff Writer
Flo Rida Ft. T-Pain – Low
Alright, so the lyrics are crass, crude and not very inspired, but this
banger of a tune has exactly what all good songs which pass through the
Single of The Month annals have in common; a darn catchy chorus and a
destiny to pack dancefloors nationwide.
Hoosiers – Cops and Robbers
Way back in October of last year, we predicted in Single of the Month
that indie-popsters Hoosiers wouldn’t be around for too long. Well, it’s
seven months on and their still knocking out enjoyable rip-offs of other
songs. Essentially The Cure’s ‘The Lovecats’ with different lyrics, it’s
still enough to entertain us.
