 I wanted to believe that we were meant to

The Romeo and Juliet that no one could see.
We were there for each other when we needed to talk,
We confessed our feelings on that short walk.
The first kiss we shared was soft and long,
But where we were we didn't belong.
There were others to think about in all of this,
Our first kiss was a very near miss.
The front door went and in he walked,
All we said was that we'd sat there and talked.
His best mate you were meant to be,
I was his girlfriend wanting to be set free.
You wanted me to leave him for you,
But you had a girlfriend, a baby too.
I know it was wrong that thing that we had,
We were just there when each other was sad.
I moved away to give us some space,
It wasn't long until we saw each other's face.
I still had those feelings, they had stayed right there,
But there was something we had to share.
It wasn't romantic just real quick,
Now I know I must have been thick.
For my feelings for you were very true,
I really did care for you.
I soon realised all you told me were lies,
The truth wasn't clear enough in your eyes.
You see I thought we were meant to be,
Then I saw that you had just used me.
