Get on your dancing shoes

Young people have the chance to get six weeks free dance tuition and they will get to share the stage with a professional dance company at the end of it.

From the start of October, Arcane Dance Company from Runcorn will be running contemporary dance and physical theatre sessions at Norley Community Centre, Shevington Youth Club and Sunshine House in Scholes. Over six weeks, each of the youth groups will create their own dance performance, based around the issue of teenage binge drinking.

All three groups will come together to perform their plays to an invited audience at Robin Park Arena on Friday November 16th, as a warm up to Arcane Dance Company’s much heralded ‘Ten Green Bottles’ drama.

Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust Arts Development Officer Samantha Dawson says: “This project is a great way for young people in Wigan Borough to have fun through inclusive, non-competitive physical activity.”

Arcane will be running dance sessions for six weeks at:
Norley Community Centre: Every Monday from October 1st (4.30-6.30pm)
Shevington Youth Club: Every Tuesday from October 2nd (7-9pm)
Sunshine House (Scholes): Every Wednesday from October 3rd (6.30-8.30pm)
