Haigh! It’s your band’s chance to play
to thousands
The crème de la crème of local bands are
wanted to whip up a musical feast at the 2008 Haigh Music Festival.
Wigan Borough’s showpiece musical event will be held at Haigh Hall
Country Park on Sunday July 6th. The all day celebration showcases the
very best up and coming local bands and organisers are now inviting
groups to submit demo recordings for consideration.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Arts and Festivals Manager and Haigh
Music Festival Chair, Chris Wyatt, says: “Haigh Music Festival gets
bigger and better every year and it is now one of the most eagerly
anticipated events on the local calendar. The key to its success is that
it has a consistently strong line up and once again we are searching for
the best acts on the scene to play this year.
“Haigh is a unique opportunity for local musicians. Unsigned bands in
other areas simply don’t get the chance to play to thousands of people
at an open air concert. We want to hear from anyone who thinks they have
what it takes to play the biggest local music event of the year.”
A wide variety of musical genres have found their way on to the Haigh
stage since the annual festival was first held in 2002. Last year the
line up included Dirty Circus (indie), Plasmastorm (dance) and Strain
(metal). Around 7000 people attended the event.
Bands wishing to play at this year’s event must perform original
material and those who were selected last year will not be considered.
