Ask
most people who've seen the first Iron Man film, and they'll probably
tell you that Iron Man 2 was a bit disappointing.
The same is true of the game, which, by the looks of it, was quickly
thrown together to cash in on the mega-bucks movie sequel.
In fact, the game doesn't have that much in common with the movie,
beginning as it does after the events in Iron Man 2.
Those nasty Russians have nicked off with some of Tony Stark's
technology so that they can go about making their own Iron Men. Your
job, obviously, is to donne the famed suit, and get it back.
Nothing in this game ever gets any less simple than that; this is one of
the most basic games you'll ever play, and is incredibly boring because
of it.
The eight chapters you'll need to get through to complete this game are
repetitive and dull, and basically involve going around shooting stuff
and blowing stuff up until the game gets even more bored than you are,
and lets you past.
You can fly too, which should be pretty cool, but unsurprisingly isn't.
The controls for flight, much like for the rest of the gameplay, are
awkward, clumsy and frustrating,. You'll probably spend ages trying to
suss out the art of taking off, only to find that, once you've sussed
it, there's not really much point in leaving the ground.
Looks wise, there's nothing much to write home about. As you'll see for
yourself if you check out the recommended video, Sega haven't really put
too much effort into the graphics, choosing instead to for something
fairly middle of the road which fails to excite.
As if all this wasn't bad enough, you've got to consider the longevity
of Iron Man 2. For a game which costs around thirty quid, you'd expect
it to keep you occupied for a good while, but no, it disappoints on that
front too; you're probably going to get five, six hours tops out of this
game.
Then again, I can't think of a single reason why anybody would want to
play this game for any longer than that!
