Haigh Festival Line-up Announced!
This is it, folks. Local music fans from right across the borough have
been waiting with baited breath to find out who’ll be hitting Wigan’s
most prestigious stage at the annual Haigh Music Festival, and we have
the line-up right here.
From the simplistic, pop-stompers of young up 'n' comers, The Kicks to
the full-on madness of one of Wigan’s most revered acts, Moco, this
year’s festival promises to kick bum like no other before it.
We’ll shut up for now and give you the full run down, but keep checking
back for more exclusive content on this year’s Haigh Music Festival.
12:00noon - Joyce
►

Channelling the sound of Manchester's past, present and future into what
can only be described as melodic, sometimes brooding, sometimes
uplifting electro-indie anthems.
12:45 - Murmurs of Tension
►

Like some kind of wizard casting his magic across a deranged sky,
Murmurs of Tension take quivering, psychedelic pop to a new level.
1:30 - John Player Specials
►
www.myspace.com/thejohnplayerspecials
Wigan and St. Helens based quartet specialising in tight, slick slices
of ska, slow enough to enjoy each horn and stab of guitar, yet quick
enough to drag you to the dancefloor for some serious skanking action.
2:15 - The Geoffs
►
www.myspace.com/thegeoffs
Enormously exciting, furiously fun indie music from a band as renowned
for their exhilarating live show as their enjoyable, dance-worthy tunes.
It is practically a given you'll have a good time when these guys hit
the stage.
3:00 - Ideal Crash
►
www.myspace.com/idealcrashofficial
Screeching, near nihilistic hard rock that blasts off from the pit of a
burning sun and heads off on an intense, intergalactic mission full of
melody and madness.
3:45 - Laura White
►
www.myspace.com/laurajwhite
Warm, smooth and sultry soul, enticing jazz and one amazing voice, Laura
White should make a refreshing change from the rock ‘n’ roll madness and
provide a great chance to chill out in the sun.
4:30 - The Kicks
►
www.myspace.com/thewigankicks
Sliding a retro slant through straight-forward, jangly, modern
guitar-pop numbers which bob and weave through a wave of energy and are
delivered with a sense of maturity which belies their formative years.
5:15 - Acrid Fear
►
www.myspace.com/acridfear
Chugging, mental and melodic metal with sharp, sneering vocals which at
once glide and belch over powerful riffs and a sense of chaos.
6:00 - Filthy Souls
►
www.myspace.com/thefilthysoulsmusic
Filthy Souls revel in anthemic indie which channels the spirit of David
Bowie’s better years, drags it through the streets of Manchester and
leaves it exposed for all to enjoy.
6:45 - The Loungs
►
www.myspace.com/theloungs
Shiny, happy, poppy fun that takes a trip back through the ages and
skips merrily back to the modern age with a big ol' smile on its face
and a packet of sweeties.
7:30 - Moco
►
www.myspace.com/moco
What can we say about Moco that hasn't already been said a thousand
times before? Local garage-rock icons led by lanky lunatic Steve Jones
who'll no doubt relish the chance to work such a large crowd into a
frenzy.
