Faces by Josh Cockayne

Image: FacesFaces,
Worn by life,
Faces hiding so much,
Each one with so many stories,
So much life,
Yet so much silence,
Unnatural, unhuman silence,
But they all still sit beneath,
Their masks of independence.

One word could make a moment,
Unforgettable in time,
A partnership so undestroyable,
The world would be in awe…

But still the silence,
Fills the air.
Flashing orange lifelines,
To break a look,
A shifty glance.
A stranger hidden by a mask,
So difficult to remove.

Peaking from the corner of your eye,
Hoping for a look returned,
But never mind,
Try again tomorrow,
Try again tomorrow,
Until the week is through,
Try again on Monday.
Try again forever…
Until you life is through.
Wasting moments, wasting time,
If only you knew of what you could do.

People, scenery, backdrop,
Clumps of life, like trees with hair,
But somehow you’re the same to them.
Robots standing, waiting routinely,
Until from the fog your signal comes,
Climb on board the rusty vessel,
And wait until you arrive,
Come again tomorrow,
And start it all again.
