What happens here: Wigan Music Collective is a voluntary group formed in 1998 with the aim of developing a healthy live music scene in the Wigan area. It provides a forum for local musicians and bands to meet and exchange information both through meetings and their website. As well as putting on gigs for local and visiting bands every Saturday the Collective also has a mobile recording studio and mobile PA equipment available for hire at very competitive rates. In addition the Collective initiated and has organised the region’s biggest live music event and social calendar highlight, the Haigh Hall Festival, a free music festival for home-grown talent and a crowd estimated in excess of 5,000 people. With the support of the Leisure Trust the Collective has also provided training on various aspects of gigging for young bands who are just starting out. Collective membership is currently free and all are welcome.
