Brother Hood - The Chemical Brothers

Image: Brotherhood by The Chemical BrothersThe Chemical Brothers are a group who certainly need no introduction.

But for anyone living under a rock for the last sixteen years who may need one, ‘Brotherhood’, a storming collection of the some of their defining moments, is  it.Whatever your favourite ‘Chemical Brothers track maybe, it’s probably on here somewhere.

That said, through their album's accompanying press hype, the ‘Brothers themselves, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simmons, are adamant that this is no career-retrospective nor historical documentation of forgotten hits and faded memories.

And it isn’t.

Although ‘Brotherhood’ does clock up plenty of Chems’ classics, there isn’t a single track that sounds dated, not old favourites like ‘Let Forever Be’ or ‘Star Guitar’, and definitely not the latest addition to the chemical back catalogue, ‘Keep My Composure’.

Everything sounds timeless, ageless and immense.

Making an immediate call to the dancefloor with ‘Galvanize’, a sublime stomper that many lesser bands would need to save as a grand finale, the big beat bastions of brilliance rock their way through ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’ and right into the blitz of ‘Block Rockin’ Beats’.

It doesn’t stop there, either, taking in fantastic set of tunes which stand the test of time in a way many electronic bands can only dream of.

Like the soundtrack to the best Friday night ever, ‘Brotherhood’ encapsulates the innovation and uniqueness which has long revelled at the core of the Chems’ genre-defining career.

Not that such a career is anywhere near over.

Hopefully the duo’s timeless tunes will be around for a long time, and if your favourite Chemical Brothers track isn’t on here, fear not, it’s probably still to come.

In a Nutshell: A block rockin’ best-of that confirms the Chemical Brothers’ status as Lords of the Dancefloor.
You Might Like This if You Enjoy: Fat Boy Slim, rockin’ the ‘floor til the early dawn.
