A look at recent news and opportunities for young people in Wigan Borough organised in not-so-alphabetical order. C is for CBT Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is what you’ll need to take if you want to ride a moped or a motorbike. If you’re not currently working or at college/university and live in certain areas of Wigan, you can now do your CBT for free. Just see the news piece in our Projects section for more info.

A competition for budding young script-writers in Wigan Borough kicks off this month. If you’re aged 12-19, have a way with words and want to see them brought to life, then why not get involved with the Young People’s Playwriting competition. The contest is split into two categories, one for 12-14 year-olds and the other for 15-19 year-olds, and the winning entries will be performed by professional actors as part of the Wigan Words 2010 Festival on Saturday April 10th 2010....

20/07/09 - What's on This Week
The summer holidays have officially kicked off for most of us, so what better time to have a look at everything that’s going on this week. There's absolutely tonnes of info on things to do this summer spread right across The LINC Online. Our Things to Do directory lists well over 150 clubs and activities going on all year round, the summer 'What's On for Teens' guide lists recent stuff, and there's even more in places like the sports section.

08/07/09 - Harry Potter and...
As more or less everyone knows, the new Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is out in cinemas from this Wednesday, July 15th. To celebrate, The LINC team all dressed up like wizards and have spent the whole day playing Quidditch…

Got a talent for movie-making and a dream of changing the world? If so, now’s your chance to submit a film to the prestigious Co-operative Young Film-Makers Festival. The deadline for the festival, which is open to all young people aged 19 or under, is Friday 26th June, with the Festival itself taking place in Bradford on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th October....
