About The LINC Online
First launched in the summer of 2005 and growing bigger and better ever since, The LINC Online is the definitive website for young people in Wigan Borough.

Packed full of news, reviews, things to do and more, the website has literally tones of information on anything you could possibly want from a youth website.

Need information or advice on everything from sexual health, drugs, alcohol, bullying, stress or anything else? Then our comprehensive ‘Advice, Information & Services’ list has a whole range of websites, helplines and organizations who can help you out.

Bored and looking for something to do? Well, fear not. We’ve compiled a massive list of local clubs and activities to get involved in which you can search either by activity or location, as well as regular ‘What’s On’ lists detailing special upcoming events.

Yet we’re not just here to tell you stuff, after all, how boring would that be? No, The LINC Online is your website, and we want you guys to get involved and tell us about the things that matter to you.

We’re always looking for people to contribute to the site, and with more and more people checking out The LINC Online every month, it’s the perfect place to put your work in front of an audience.

Indeed, if you’ve got something to say, here’s the place to say it. Whether you want to rant off about something that’s doing your head in, review your favourite films, albums, books etc, comment on something you’ve seen here on the site or in The LINC magazine, whatever it is, get in touch and talk to us!

Who’s Behind The LINC Online?
The LINC Online was created, and is maintained by the Youth Development Team at Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust, who are responsible for providing information to young people across Wigan Borough.

The team consists of Youth Development Officer Andrea Smith, Young People’s Press Officer Kennedy Stewart and Young People’s Media Assistant Chris Skoyles, and when the three of us aren’t busy running this website, there’s lots of other things we do as well.

If you’re visiting The LINC Online, then chances are you’ve already heard of The LINC magazine, the free magazine for young people across Wigan Borough which we also produce.

The LINC magazine is distributed three times a year to around 30,000 young people, and is packed full of news, star interviews and features on all the subjects that matter to you.

We also do our bit to help improve the sometimes negative stereotypes of young people and publicize young people’s achievements through the local media, as well as offering a ‘signposting’ service, helping you to find information on services, activities and things to do, and can help you get in touch with the right people if you feel strongly about a particular issue and want to make yourself heard.

A Quick Note on Extreme Sports…
We get many enquiries about extreme sports, and usually have to say the same thing, which is this:

Unfortunately, there is no longer a dedicated Extreme Sports Development worker within Youth Development, or even within the entire Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust.

That’s not to say that there’s nothing going on when it comes to Extreme Sports in Wigan Borough, but just that sadly, the Youth Development team are not in a position to help with extreme sports enquiries.

WLCT’s Parks team are hoping to develop more extreme sports facilities across Wigan Borough, for more information, please visit WLCT's Parks pages.

Having said that, we’ll continue to do our best to help promote any extreme sports activities or events that we hear about through The LINC and The LINC Online.
