Learning - Schools Our
experienced Learning Officers are available to visit schools to deliver
sessions for the following purposes:
• Workshop sessions tailored around elements of the History National
Curriculum (to include curriculum elements of Citizenship & ICT);
• Workshop sessions to compliment teacher’s Schemes of Work;
• Workshop sessions for Extended Schools.
The Learning Officers will bring their workshops and material to support
ongoing classroom work. For further information see ‘Workshops

In addition to our outreach workshops we also welcome school parties to
visit our two heritage sites, The History Shop and Trencherfield Mill
Steam Engine. As part of this package further additional activities can
be included:
The History Shop
Duration: 1 hr workshop plus additional activities = approx 2 hours
Additional activities include: Victorian Games, A Museum Tour and quiz
and an activity involving some of our collections.
Trencherfield Mill Steam Engine
Duration: 1 hour workshop plus additional activities = approx 2 hours
Additional activities include: An exciting audio visual show, the
opportunity to see the engine in full steam, talks by the engineers and
cotton spinning.
Please note- due to limited space we can accommodate maximum parties of
30 in the engine house.
